A Tribute to Sterny
Saturday, November 26
The Sterny Way Foundation will host "A Tribute to Sterny" on Saturday, November 26, to honor former Libertyville High School baseball coach and Highland Park High School football and baseball coach, Gregg Sternaman. The day’s 3-part event will begin at 12 p.m. in Libertyville at the Chipotle and Five Guys shopping center, 141 N. Milwaukee Avenue. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony and a dedication of an honorary "Sterny Way" street sign, as well as a memorial plaque.
The Sterny Bowl will kick off at 2:30 p.m. at Wolters Field in Highland Park. Highland Park High School football alum will go head to head in a commemorative flag football game for Coach.
After the game, The Toadstool Pub in Highwood will host a fundraiser, 327 Waukegan Ave. All donations will go to The Sterny Way Foundation in order to provide sporting equipment for underprivileged student-athletes.
Gregg Sternaman lost his battle to cancer in December 2009. The Sterny Way Foundation was established to honor and remember Coach Sternaman’s passion for sports and coaching, by providing financial assistance to those student-athletes whose opportunity to partake in sports is diminished because of economic hardship.
